Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, when we spring our clocks forward an hour at 2 a.m.

Although a couple of days last week felt like spring, it’s forecast to cool down this weekend and only be in the mid-30s on Saturday in Washington.

But prepare for cherry blossoms next weekend when it warms up again.

Baseball and softball season

With spring, that means the Congressional softball and baseball teams will start practicing soon. This year’s dates for both annual events have been announced.

The Congressional Women’s Softball Game is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, at 6 p.m. at the Watkins Recreation Center (420 12th St. SE). Check out what happened at last year’s game and stay tuned for some roster changes after the member’s team lost a few players and perhaps picked up a few new ones after last year’s election.

The Congressional Baseball Game is on Thursday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in Nationals Park. Check out what happened at last year’s game and stay tuned for this year’s roster. Expect changes here too because of the election and members leaving for the new administration.

D.C. cultural event of the day

In the mood for a cherry blossom-themed cocktail? Ocean Prime (1341 G St. NW) now has a Sakura Lime Rickey — a riff on the D.C. classic — with Absolut Elyx, grenadine, lime juice, simple syrup, muddled Luxardo maraschino cherries and ginger beer for the entire time the cherry blossoms are in bloom. It’s $12.

Overheard

“I don’t, especially when it comes to me.” — Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on whether she believes everything she reads in the press.“I said, ‘Hey Chuck you don’t need any transportation money in New York, do you?’ I was kidding.”— Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on what he told Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., who voted against McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, for Transportation secretary.“They are hiding under their desks.”— Rep. Dave Brat, R-Va., criticizing Senate lawmakers.
