More than 70 Senate staffers donated 56 units of blood in the first-ever Senate Armed Services Blood Program blood drive.

Staff members from the Armed Services Blood Bank Center at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, hosted a four-hour drive for Senate staffers on Monday.

All blood collected went directly to sick or injured service members and their families. The organizers are hopeful that the House side is interested in hosting a similar event.

For National Health Through Fitness Day, athletes came to Capitol Hill on Wednesday, to advocate active lifestyle policies and meet with members of Congress. Athlete attendees included former NFL player Herschel Walker, nine-time Olympic track and field gold medalist Carl Lewis, and former Major League Baseball players Tommy John and Steve Garvey.

Ex-Clinton staffer launches firm

Darren Peters, traveling political adviser to Hillary Clinton in her 2016 and 2008 campaigns, has opened the doors of a new D.C.-based consulting firm, the Peter Damon Group. Peters was most recently the director of federal government affairs for Entergy Corporation. The Peter Damon Group is made up of former Capitol Hill and White House staffers, according to its news release.

John Dingell gives his two cents on health care

Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., compiled all the tweets about health care from her husband, former Rep. John D. Dingell, D-Mich. He went on a tweet storm on Tuesday night about how far health care has come. Check it out.
