Before lawmakers left, the Senate passed several appropriations bills, but the process could slow as the
chamber’s focus will presumably shift toward a possible Supreme Court nominee. (President Donald Trump is reportedly considering names now.)
Immigration remains front and center, with hundreds of protesters arrested and charged in the Hart Senate Office Building on Thursday
and another immigration bill that failed to pass the House this week. GOP leadership is hoping to resuscitate the issue when they return July 10.
