Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont., delivered the weekly address for the Republicans for the week of June 20. According to CQ.com, Zinke is the first SEAL elected to the House. He commanded SEAL Team 6, the elite unit famous for killing Osama bin Laden in 2011, and he was awarded two Bronze Stars in 2006. For his time in office he told CQ Roll Call, "I understand that, as a freshman, influence is limited ... [but] my goal is to move the needle."
Zinke's focus in the weekly address was the Defense Authorization and military spending. Zinke criticized Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., for saying that a vote for the current defense bill would be a "waste of time" because President Barack Obama has threatened to veto the bill.
