Rep. Brian Mast confirmed he has been under consideration for the nomination to be secretary of Veterans Affairs.

“It is an honor to be considered to serve my fellow veterans and their families at the highest possible level,” the Florida Republican said Thursday.

Former Florida Rep. Alan Grayson will challenge Rep. Darren Soto for his old seat in the Democratic primary.

“I don’t need anyone’s permission to run for office. What I’ve done is ask the people,” Grayson said. “I can run anywhere in the state; I could run from Key West to Pensacola.”

Two former Florida congressmen are mulling joining forces on a bipartisan ticket to run for governor.

Former Rep. Patrick Murphy, a Democrat, is considering running alongside former Republican Rep. David Jolly, depending on the results of a poll Murphy commissioned this week, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The surge of Democratic candidates this cycle has given way to a new crop of campaign managers who are taking their first crack at managing millions of dollars. 

And up until recently, there wasn’t a streamlined way for them to handle the money coming in and spend down to zero, which is the most important job for managers.

Democratic firebrand former Rep. Alan Grayson said he is running for Congress again but has not given indication where he will run.

The former Democratic congressman raised $192,000 in the first quarter of 2018, according to Orlando Rising, and reported having $694,967 in cash on hand at the beginning of April.

After raising nearly $60,000 in the last campaign filing quarter of 2017, it’s clear former Florida Rep. Alan Grayson is honing in on running for Congress in Florida again.

What’s unclear is where exactly he’ll spend his money.

One of the first millennials elected to Congress will head to Georgetown University this fall to help students understand political issues unique to their generation. 

As a fellow with the Institute of Politics and Public Service at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy, Former Rep. Patrick Murphy, 34, will lead discussions on how government must adjust to accommodate the so-called “gig” economy, how political careers have changed in the age of social media, and how an anticipated flood of millennial voters could upend norms in Washington, among other issues.

It can’t feel good for Arizona Republican Jeff Flake to be attacked and maligned, especially when the senator is up for re-election and when the attacker is Donald Trump, the president from his own party who has gone out of his way to tell his 36 million Twitter followers that he thinks Flake is a “flake.”

At his rally in Phoenix on Tuesday night, Trump, without referring to Flake by name, said the senator was “weak on borders, weak on crime,” adding that “nobody knows who the hell he is.”

Former Florida Rep. Alan Grayson may not be in Congress anymore, but he is using the special election in Georgia's 6th Congressional District to raise money for himself.

The former Democratic congressman is running a campaign to raise money for Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff through the fundraising site ActBlue.

Democrat Pam Keith, former primary opponent of Rep. Patrick Murphy and Alan Grayson in 2016, is running against freshman Rep. Brian Mast for his Florida 18th District House seat in 2018. 

Keith, a lawyer who has worked for the Navy and in the corporate world, was unable to attract much fundraising for her 2016 run. Murphy went on to be the Democratic nominee for Senate and lose to Sen. Marco Rubio.
