Pro-Trump Great America Alliance Endorses in Three Senate Primaries
Rosendale, Morrisey and Blackburn received the group’s backing

Great America Alliance, an issue advocacy organization supporting President Donald Trump, on Wednesday made its first three Senate endorsements for the 2018 midterms.

Great America Alliance is backing Montana Auditor Matt Rosendale, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn. All three Republicans are seeking the GOP nod for Senate in their states.

Republicans have no shortage of House members interested in promotions to the Senate next year. But in three of four states with toss-up races, GOP attorneys general are also readying for potential Senate bids.

The top lawyers of Indiana, West Virginia and Missouri are contemplating primary bids against GOP House members who are either already running for the Senate or who are widely assumed to be running.

Sen. Joe Manchin’s office on Thursday denied reports that the West Virginia Democrat is being considered for a job in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.

Earlier Thursday, Politico reported that Manchin was being considered for Energy secretary, citing three sources close to the discussions. The story pointed out that Manchin is up for re-election in 2018 in a state that is becoming more Republican. (Trump carried the state by 42 points last month.)
