House Preparing Extension of FAA Authorization
The House is readying a three-month extension of Federal Aviation Administration programs, which could be on the floor as soon as next week.
Jim Berard, spokesman for House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman James L. Oberstar , D-Minn., confirmed that his committee is working on a clean extension that would last through the end of the calendar year.
The FAA has been operating on a string of short-term authorizations, the most recent of which will expire at the end of September.
The Senate Finance Committee is also working on a three-month extension, which would give the Senate until the end of the year to finish its full reauthorization bill.
The House passed Oberstar’s multi-year reauthorization measure May 21.
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation panel has approved its portion of the Senate bill, but the Finance panel has yet to report out the revenue titles.
