Kucinich May Get Hearing On Impeachment Resolution

The House Judiciary Committee may let anti-war Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich present his case for impeaching President Bush before the August recess, the panel’s chairman said Monday.
Chairman John Conyers Jr. , D-Mich., said Judiciary will take a broad look at the behavior of the Bush administration, and Kucinich can lay out his arguments as part of that as-yet unscheduled hearing.
Kucinich, D-Ohio, intends to formally offer a resolution on Tuesday that accuses Bush of lying to Congress in order to get approval to invade Iraq.
Conyers said he wants a public discussion of the issues being raised by Kucinich, but does not plan to take any action on the resolution. “We’re not doing impeachment, but he can talk about it,” the chairman said.
He said such a hearing would continue oversight of the executive branch that has included hearings on the exposure of the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame and the firing of U.S. attorneys.
The resolution that Kucinich has told the House to expect on Tuesday will be his fourth impeachment measure.

How can Conyers say that he does not have plans to take action on the resolution? If it is clearly shown that impeachable offenses have been committed he should be COMPELLED to take action. Our representatives, particularly our lawmakers should have more respect for the rule of law. I say impeach and prosecute!

What an incompetent Congress we have. Too much red tape and internal politics are getting in the way. THEY NEED TO LISTEN TO KUCINICH AND IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT!
Congress is not doing anything for the people! Conyers said we are not holding impeachment hearing's , but he will let kucinich talk! They are trying make us think they care! They voted against the constitution on fisa,they care nothing about the people,only improving there image! I for one will not fall for it! Impeachment is the only way they can prove they are standing up for the peopleand the world....good luck Dennis..

It is time to pile on the House Democrats Impeachment Now! I think this is just a scam by Pelosi to make us think they will hold actual impeachment hearings and then run the clock out. Is it at all possible that these Democrats are actually cynical politicians rather than spineless fools? Is it possible that impeachment has been off the table as a way of delaying impeachment hearings until they would have the maximum political advantage? Is it possible that impeachment hearings would make life very awkward for Republicans running for office now? Just asking.
The LAW contained in the Constitution demands that Impeachment hearings take place. REAL ones not just lip-serivce ones! Is it possible that the whole mess behind the wars, the economy, the mortgage mess, bank failings, the woman and the Black Democrat Presidential Candidates, the ducking and dodging of the Impeachment process---all of it is so much smoke screen to prevent the Nation's REAL addressing of the Health Care and Insurance issues? If nothing is done I'm sure the United Nations will get a hold of those two and their cronies for war crimes...just you wait and see. And if you think the goverment is incompetent now, the UN will apply the egg for their faces.
The system has been thoroughly gamed for decades. The same thugs who control the White House also control congress and MSM. Labels like Republican and Democrat are just a layer of abstraction to make us think we have a say. We do not. Nobody is allowed into a position of power who is not beholden to the thugs.
The voters in Michigan's 14th Congressional District need to vote this incompetent boob out of office, replace him with someone who will act upon the will of the people and protect and defend the Constitution.
Almost makes me want to vote Republican - no just kidding. But I will not vote for a Democrat until the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Leahy, Conyers, etc., are GONE! And I will not vote for "Change" phony Obama. Hillary was our only hope, and we got shorthanded again - its all fixed!
To all those screaming "IMPEACHMENT NOW!!" : Have you even bothered to LOOK at a calendar, latlely? Its nearing the end of JULY. Congress will be out for AUGUST. That leaves only SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER before the general election, then only two months after that and the criminals will be out of office, anyway. Look back to 98-99, during Clinton's impeachment, that whole process took way too long. If we were gonna do this it should have been done in 2004, maybe 2005, but CERTAINLY not now. Now we just vote the bums party out of office, and let the chips fall where they may. Now Paul above may have a point.; a well timed discussion of the "Issues" in the post convention time frame may help solidify the Dems lead the presidential race.
We, the American electorate, have been left out of the recent events that are shaping our nation and its place in the world. The problem is that we have forgotten our voice. Impeachment hearings of the Bush administration, for which there are valid reasons, could provide a forum for the issues and rallying point to excercise that voice. We could reengage the democratic process through our elected officials, letters to newpapers, blogs, and focus groups. For a model look at the Chicago-Obama style passionate grassroots movement .
Sorry, commies. Only two presidents have been impeached, including your beloved Ruttin' Bill. Now his other head is the one he can't control. Kucinich is a crackpot. Thank goodness the statesmen of the Democratic party recognize this.
