Wilson’s Fundraising Numbers Are No Lie
By John McArdle, CQ-Roll Call
Who knew two little words could be worth so much?
The campaign of South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson made about $1.35 million per word when he shouted “You lie!” at President Barack Obama during a joint session of Congress last month.
Wilson’s campaign said Thursday that it raised $2.7 million during the third quarter and the campaign had $2.6 million cash on hand as of Sept. 30.
To put it in perspective, Wilson’s fundraising total was more than most top-tier Senate candidates or incumbents bring in during a typical three month span.
“More than 50,000 Americans have extended their steadfast support to me in recent weeks,” Wilson said in a release. “It has been a humbling honor to have this support from my constituents and the American people.”
Wilson’s Democratic opponent in the 2nd District race, Rob Miller, also is expected to report astounding fundraising numbers for the quarter.
Within days of the Wilson incident, Miller’s campaign reported raising over $1 million in donations.

It is sad and pathetic that a moron Congressman from South Carolina who was incredibly rude to the President (regardless of party) could get that kind of money from the right-wing wackos in the USA. What that does is cause me to open my wallet to support people who do not spout hate and slogans - regardless of political party.
Very disappointing.
It is great that people are supporting a law maker that called it like it was.
Go, Joe, Go! About time someone told the truth to the nation!
Ah, S. Carolina, bastion of intelligent discourse and Southern gentility and manners. What an embarrassment.
