Two of the most prominent Democratic socialists in the country see an opportunity to exert their influence in an unlikely place: deep-red Kansas.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, the 76-year-old senator from Vermont, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old Democratic candidate from the Bronx who knocked off longtime Rep. Joe Crowley in their New York primary last month, are headed to the western Kansas City suburbs Friday to rally Democrats ahead of the state's August 7 primaries.

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine holds an 18-point advantage on his Republican challenger in his race for a second term, according to the first poll in the state for the general election.

Kaine led GOP nominee Corey Stewart, 54 percent to 36 percent, in a survey conducted by Quinnipiac University from June 21 to June 25.

President Donald Trump and his lawyer are split on the Republican primary for Louisiana’s 3rd District.

The president’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who serves as a senior adviser to his campaign, announced Trump’s endorsement of incumbent Rep. Clay Higgins in a statement on Thursday.

If you’re a Kid Rock fan feeling jilted after the country rock star’s short-lived, fake campaign for Senate last year, wallow no more. The Devil Without a Cause might not be challenging Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow in Michigan this November, but he thinks he knows who is up to the task.

The musician — whose real name is Robert Ritchie — rallied Tuesday night for Republican candidate John James in Michigan and encouraged Republican voters to support him in the state’s August 7 primary, the Detroit Free Press reported.

By all indications, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is now fully aboard the Trump train as he prepares for the GOP primary for an open Senate seat in Utah.

In 2016, Romney called President Donald Trump a “con man” and “a fake.” But at the opening remarks of his annual mountainside retreat for business leaders and politicos on Thursday, the former Massachusetts governor predicted Trump would “solidly” win a second term in 2020 after securing the GOP nomination, The Associated Press reported.

Former New York Rep. Michael Grimm had some advice for President Donald Trump on Sunday about not playing favorites during GOP primary elections, saying it’s a a “no-win” situation for the president to choose sides.

Trump has endorsed Grimm’s opponent for the Staten Island seat in New York’s 11th District, Rep. Dan Donovan.

A new ad for Jennifer Wexton, a top Democratic challenger to Virginia GOP Rep. Barbara Comstock, briefly features three police officers signing a poster promising “Change is Coming.”

But none of them are actual law enforcement. In fact, one of them is Matt Leslie, Wexton’s field director, who, according to his LinkedIn profile, has never been and is not currently police.

Republicans in Virginia’s 5th District will pick a nominee on Saturday to replace Rep. Tom Garrett on the ballot this November after he announced this week he would retire to deal with his alcoholism.

The 5th District Republican Committee voted 19-14 to meet Saturday to select Garrett’s replacement, The Roanoke Times reported, and will choose from a long list of candidates who have expressed interest, including state Sens. Bill Stanley and Bryce Reeves, state Del. Michael Webert, and a handful of people who work in the private sector.

Rep. Seth Moulton is apparently riding high after a candidate he endorsed in a key Kentucky race won her Democratic primary Tuesday.

The Massachusetts Democrat added three more military veteran candidates to his Serve America leadership PAC endorsement list on Wednesday: a former Obama administration official in New Hampshire, a state senator in Nevada, and a retired Navy commander who was one of the first women in the Navy’s nuclear program.
