Heard on the Hill This Week: Pre-Election DC Protests, Holmes Norton Depicted on Small Screen
 

Roll Call’s Heard on the Hill reporter Alex Gangitano checked out the annual 17th Street High Heel Race, a drag parade that this year protested Virginia GOP Rep. Barbara Comstock's positions on gay rights and gun control. Later in the week, Roll Call was on the scene for another protest, this one outside the Trump International Hotel. And D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton will be depicted in the new Amazon series, "Good Girls Revolt."

LGBT Executive Order Signed by Obama

Updated 12:00 p.m. | President Barack Obama signed an executive order Monday banning discrimination by federal contractors against LGBT people — without a broad religious exemption included in the Senate-passed Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).  

“Our government, the government of the people, by the people and for the people, will become just a little bit fairer," Obama told a cheering audience in the East Room.
