Would Sheldon Adelson Underwrite the 2016 Republican Convention?

It's a good bet that Las Vegas Sands Corporation owner Sheldon Adelson  would do a lot to get the 2016 Republican convention to come to Las Vegas. The question is how high will the stakes go.

Peter Overby's NPR article , "Say Goodbye To The Taxpayer Funded Political Convention," highlights the recently passed bill that will prohibit $18+ million in public funds from being used for each of the 2016 the national party conventions. President Obama is expected to sign the bill.

Adelson Starts Moving 2014 Political Contributions

An American casino and resort operating company run by a major national Republican donor has contributed $200,000 to a Republican Section 527 Committee that supports state and local candidates.

In a new report covering January financial activity, the Republican State Leadership Committee, a Section 527 organization, reported Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Sands Corporation  contributed $200,000. Adelson is chairman and CEO of the gaming company. In 2013, the company gave $450,000 to the RSLC. In 2013, Adelson gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association.
